Jacket: Mango // Patent Leggings: Spanx // Boots: Old Sigerson Morrison (I also love these) // Sunglasses: Linda Farrow It seems like faux shearling outerwear pieces are *all the rage* this fall. Personally, I am delighted to see so many price points available, and so many options that look $$$ but are actually super affordable, like this one and this one. I wore this longer length toggle coat here and am currently waiting for this style to arrive. From there, I have promised myself, no more shearling coats for me this season (but never say never). These coats are so easy to style and you can never go wrong pairing them with a great boot, fair isle sweater, or a classic turtleneck. As always, if you are looking for more of my fall finds, you can always find them in the ‘SHOP’ – here! The post FAUX SHEARLING OUTERWEAR appeared first on Atlantic-Pacific. FAUX SHEARLING OUTERWEAR syndicated from christmassweatersusa.tumblr.com via Tumblr FAUX SHEARLING OUTERWEAR It’s not hyperbole to say that the pandemic changed working practises forever. Companies have realised that working remotely – whether in the comfort of your own home or just a place of your choosing – is a viable option that has no material effect on productivity. In fact, studies have shown that it can actually increase output from employees, who are now happier, more motivated and have extra time available thanks to the removal of the soul-destroying process known as the morning commute. But have you optimised your own WFH space? If we’re in this for the long haul, you shouldn’t be sacrificing your health or sanity with a below-par setup. With that in mind, below we’ve outlined a number of items that’ll make your life easier and raise your comfort and happiness levels. Standing DeskThink a standing desk is a bit too Silicon Valley for your home? Think again. A desk that allows you to get up out of your seat every so often will not only alleviate the aches and pains associated with your current makeshift dining table workstation, but also help towards keeping you moving, increasing circulation and improving posture. Of course IKEA do a standard-issue version, but brands like Think Furniture and Vari offer workstation options that sit on top of your current desk, giving you a range of possible work heights. If you’re only going to try one thing on this list, it’s this. It is genuinely life changing for the majority of people, who don’t realise just how bad sitting in one place all day is. Laptop StandFor those who can’t commit to a new desk and are trying to improve on their aforementioned dining table workspace, a laptop stand is going to give you the added height that will help improve your posture and reduce neck strain. A pile of books isn’t good enough. Opt for something with a sturdy construction and enough space below to stop your laptop overheating. Nexstand do a particularly good one at a bargain price point. MonitorAnother option that helps avoid straining and craning is adding a monitor to your laptop setup. Increased resolution and definition is a bonus for your eyes when working for long periods and more screen real estate should lead to increased productivity. When picking one make sure to check connectivity options and the size of the mount and base so that they complement your workspace and work with your existing hardware. MouseRemember them? If you’re used to using your laptop in a non-intensive leisurely manner, you might’ve forgotten about the humble mouse. But after working day in, day out with nothing more than a laptop trackpad, a mouse soon becomes a godsend for repetitive work. A solid, wireless Bluetooth option shouldn’t set you back much and will make a world of difference to your productivity and comfort. Tiny Scanner AppDespite extended home working, nobody really wants to invest in big, ugly office machines such as printers and scanners. Although printing during lockdown remains a pain, scanning can be made a little easier with the help of the Tiny Scanner App, which turns any smartphone into a portable scanner. It’ll easily scan whatever you need, converting it to an image or PDF file with options for colour and black and white. Available on Google Play and App Store USB HubNothing like working at home to help you quickly realise you don’t have enough USB ports. Dictaphones, rechargeable bike lights, phones, tablets, headphones, USB desk fans and portable hard-drives all need juice and there often isn’t enough to go round. The quick fix is something along the lines of the Anker 10-port data hub, or USB-C hub if you’re lucky enough to own a new MacBook. Desk LampRather than trying to crowbar your desk into an area with good lighting, get yourself a robust lamp that’s designed specifically for workspaces. Do a little research into lumens and the Kelvin scale so that you’ve got the correct colour temperature of light as well as brightness and ideally get something with a LED bulb that’ll go the distance. In-TrayAmong the barrage of self-help books we’ve read, something stuck from David Allen’s ‘Getting Things Done’: the importance of an in-tray. Moving from an office environment to a WFH situation, it’s easy to let the lines between work and home life blur. Something as simple as an in-tray can help keep the line between the two clear: by putting any work documents that needs addressing into it, you will stop the random piles of papers accruing across your home and allow yourself the mental space to effectively deal with your workload. The size of the strips will vary according to the application, but they should generally be 1-2 inches wide. 3. Dip the newspaper in the mixture until saturated. Then use your fingers to squeeze off the excess paste. 4. Apply the strips to your form allowing them to overlap and run in different directions. Allow the object to dry. This can take up to 24 hours. 5. Repeat the process as many times as needed. Most papier mache ornaments have at least three layers of paper. 6. Paint and decorate the art as desired. Travel: What Makes the Seymour Oktoberfest an Event Not to Be Missed syndicated from christmassweatersusa.tumblr.com via Tumblr Travel: What Makes the Seymour Oktoberfest an Event Not to Be Missed When Shawn Stussy first started printing T-shirts to promote his surfboard business in 1980, he was unwittingly creating a template for the future of fashion. His designs formed the foundation of what would come to be known as ‘streetwear’, with the graphic tee becoming a core component of the look. Fast forward to the present day and the style Stussy brought into existence has been fully co-opted by high fashion. Streetwear and haute couture are now largely indistinguishable from one another. Rappers sit in the front row at Paris Fashion Week, skate brands collaborate with Italian fashion houses, and streetwear designers are hoovered up for creative director roles at the biggest labels on earth. Whether you love them or hate them, there’s no denying the graphic T-shirt’s significance in contemporary fashion. They’re some of the best-selling items for high-fashion designers and streetwear labels alike, and whatever you might think of the frankly ludicrous markups some of them demand, they can still be a good way to punch up outfits by adding some colour, and to let others know where your brand loyalties lie. Graphic T-Shirt Styling TipsThe golden rule when it comes to styling graphic tees is not to wear them with other logo-laden pieces. The last thing you want is to wind up looking like a walking billboard. It’s a sartorial error we see all too often, and it’s so easy to avoid. Instead, wear a graphic T-shirt with pieces that are free from excessive detail or branding. That way the print isn’t fighting anything else for attention, and has the opportunity to be the focal point of the look. It’s also worth remembering that having a high-end designer logo slapped across your chest is no substitute for good style. You still need to put thought into your outfits and use techniques like layering, and matching textures and colours to your advantage. Don’t let a logo make you lazy. Buying ConsiderationsFitFit is always important, but particularly so where T-shirts are concerned. These are garments that sit directly next to the body with no layers underneath to mask a sloppy fit, so it’s worth taking the time to ensure it’s just right. First and foremost, a T-shirt needs to fit well in the shoulders and chest. The best way to get this right is to find a tee you own that fits well and measure it from pit to pit. You can then use this measurement to compare to product size charts online. What makes a good fit is a bit subjective. Some people like a slim fit while others prefer their T-shirts oversized, so using this method is a surefire way to make sure you end up with what’s right for you. PricePrice is our biggest bugbear when it comes to designer T-shirts. It’s important to remember you’re just paying for a label. Even the most respected high-fashion brands print their graphics and logos on relatively inexpensive ‘blanks’, and it’s not uncommon to see markups of £200 or £300. Of course, there are some labels that print onto premium-quality T-shirts, but with a piece of clothing this simple there’s always going to be a point of diminishing returns… unless it’s literally woven from gold thread or encrusted with diamonds. Only you can decide whether or not you’re prepared to pay the premium. The Best Designer Graphic T-Shirt BrandsGucciArguably the hottest label on the face of the earth, Gucci has been knocking out eye-catching graphic tees for some time now. Most feature the brand name and/or logo, and can fetch anywhere up to £1,000. The brand has also been involved in a number of high-profile collabs that have featured various graphic T-shirts, including The North Face and, most recently, Palace. Polo Ralph LaurenRalph Lauren has had a number of iconic graphic T-shirt designs over the years. The ones that immediately come to mind are the ‘Polo Bear’ tees featuring the brand’s furry mascot, and the retro Polo Sport logo T-shirts that vintage connoisseurs go crazy for. Raf SimonsGraphic T-shirts have been a core element in Belgian designer Raf Simons’ collections since the very beginning. They often feature off-kilter imagery, text and iconography, and in a variety of unusual cuts and fits. Off-WhiteOne of the original streetwear-fashion crossover labels, Off-White’s diagonal-stripe and arrow logos feature heavily on the brand’s graphic T-shirts. In addition to logos, you’ll also find designs with playful imagery, all-over prints and tongue-in-cheek cultural references. BalenciagaBalenciaga is a prime example of a brand that really took the graphic T-shirt concept and ran with it. The label is known for borrowing designs from the corporate and political worlds, and repurposing them. First there were the infamous DHL T-shirts that retailed for around £200, then the Bernie Sanders tees, which reworked the politician’s campaign logo to incorporate the brand’s name. StüssyStüssy is the original graphic T-shirt brand and has released thousands of designs over the years. Today, the label has an entire range of fashion-forward, streetwear-infused garments, but logo tees are still probably the biggest and best-known part of its output.
